Community Garden at Racing Magpie

Thanks to a partnership with Makoce Agriculture Development and a design committee of community members with all sorts of expertise, we are developing an educational garden and contemplative space in our yard between our buildings!

Begun in early summer 2023, we added a walking path all the way around the yard, a 12’ x 20’ raised bed garden, a seating area, and will be adding pollinator beds and local plants and fruits.

Much gratitude goes to the members of the initial planning group: Anita Afraid of Lightning, Alex Romero Frederick, Augusta Rattling Hawk, Dollie Red Elk, Christopher Bordeaux, Lisa Iron Cloud, Nick Hernandez, Clementine Bordeaux, Peter Strong, Helena Danielson, Mary Bordeaux, Arlo Iron Cloud, and Eirik, Kenzie, and Caleb from Terra Site Design.

All community members are welcome to help with the plants and enjoy the restful outdoor space. As the garden continues to develop, we hope to see more sharing and learning of plant knowledge as a way to build our relationship with the earth and the plant relatives.
