Tani Gordon is a talented emerging artist who creates both pen and ink drawings, as well as acrylic paintings. She was born and raised on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Sinte Gleska University. An enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, she currently lives on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation.
Inspiration for Ms. Gordon’s work comes from a variety of sources including: nature, music, Lakota culture, and human emotions. She often creates her work spontaneously, allowing her ideas to flow on paper or canvas. When drawing, after laying out the design in pencil on watercolor paper or Bristol board, she uses Micron inks to overlay the pencil lines. She then adds acrylic inks and Prisma colors to create depth in the final image. In her paintings, Ms. Gordon uses acrylic paints on canvas or wood panels. Recently, she has begun experimenting with the uses of watercolors and collage techniques.
