“Poetry, Art & Place” invites participants to work in literary and visual art as a way to discover and express feelings and ideas about the “place” we call home. Our sense of place can shape our memories of the past and our experiences of the present and
future— who we are, and who we might become. ‘Place’ can be interpreted as a favorite town, home, lake, ocean or mountains—anywhere your imagination and experience take you.
Poet Denise Lajimodiere will introduce participants to the art of
poetry writing as we explore ideas about the place(s) in which we live—our homes, our communities, our geographical, emotional and/or spiritual locations.
During the workshop, those attending will create a poem about their individual ‘place.’ These poems will then be designed and letterpress printed by artist Lucy Ganje, and each participant
will receive an original print of his or her poem. An exhibition and readings of all poems is planned for the spring of 2018.
We hope to get multigenerational participants for this workshop: children, parents, and grandparents! Workshops are open to participants 14 and older.
Delve into the art and craft of poetry in a fun, creative and inspiring environment.
