Diné jeweler Daniel Jim will be utilizing copper, brass, silver, and teaching the use of different gauges of sheet metal in this four-day workshop. It will run 9am-4pm Tuesday - Friday, May 24-27. Hands-on introduction to the following techniques are included as time allows:

1) Wood & Hammer method - using concave or convex wood as backing to form while hammering
2) Hammer & Stamps (Stakes) method stamping
Sheet metal using metal stamps (Stakes) and hammering
3) Repousse with wood & hammer method
4) Soldering metal

Cost: $85 per person (includes materials for one project and use of tools)
Enrollment: maximum of five
Ages: 16 - up
Materials: Metal (Copper, Silver, Brass) and use of tools included in registration fee.
Tools: a medium ball peen hammer is recommended - limited number available for class

Daniel Jim was born and raised with a strict Diné/Navajo tradition from both his mother & father. His blood flows in depth of two sacred clans of the Dine' Todachini and Honihani. Louie Jim, Daniel's father has always been the mentor behind all of the art work. His father a skilled respected masonry has pushed Daniel to new horizons. In 1987 Daniel achieved an Associate of Applied Science from Red Rocks, CCD Golden, Colorado. In 1987 he completed Engineering Drafting School Lakewood, Colorado; in 2000 Daniel started apprenticing with the Late Mike Little Elk with jewelry techniques. In 2007, Daniel studied at the Poeh Arts Center, Pojoaque, New Mexico where he studied jewelry with Fritz Casuse, and stone sculpting with Ryan Benally.
