Come to Racing Magpie and learn from an accomplished Native poet how to capture your stories and imagination in written form. Dig deep and bring emotion, description, and passion to your storytelling.

Ages: 18 to adult
Skill level: all levels of writing skills welcome
Cost: $30 per person
Enrollment: 20 maximum
Materials: Bring your own writing materials - pen/pencils and paper, laptop, or tablet.

Ronya Hoblit, is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota who grew up in Martin, SD, but now resides in Mandan, ND. She worked at Sitting Bull College, Fort Yates, ND, for 12+ years. In 2013 she returned to school and earned her Social Work license in September 2016. Her current job is with the Native American Training Institute as a trainer in training and as an office manager. Her writings have appeared in the Tribal College Journal, the Laramie County Community College High Plains Journal, several publications by the Oak Lake Writers, and Authentic Voices, V2. Her most recent accomplishment is the inclusion of her poem, Sacrificial Birth, in Vignette Sakowin (7) of The Great Race Exhibit at the Journey Museum. Ms. Hoblit continues to write creatively with hope that someday she will be able to devote more time to the fine art of poetry.
